Syrius and Malta

I poured my heart into this. It is based on my favorite anime, "The Sea Prince and the Fire Child" or "Syrius no Densetsu". Syrius and Malta fell in love, even though it was forbidden for a child of the sea to love a child of fire. They are separated and imprisoned for their love. In the end Syrius tries to find Malta by coming out of the sea and dies by the sunlight. Malta then carries him into the sea, thus killing herself. They live forever in a constellation in the sky.

Watercolor on paper. I had to sketch out several times before I felt I captured them in the right way.
